Good Teaching Principles
Compiling 50 years of research on good teaching practices, Arthur W. Chickering and Zelda F. Gamson (1987) determined the following seven principles for good practice in undergraduate education:
Good practice .....
- encourages contacts between students and faculty
- encourages cooperation among students
- encourages active learning
- gives prompt feedback
- emphasizes time on task
- communicates high expectations
- respects diverse talents and ways of learning
