The Instructional Enhancement Grants (IEG) Program funds projects that promote excellence in instruction. Funding for the IEG program typically comes from the Vice-Provost's Office, the University Library, the Core Curriculum.

Program Objectives

The Instructional Enhancement Grant Program provides grants from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars to enhance any aspect of the instructional mission of the university. The average amount funded is usually around X. Grants can focus on traditional classroom-based modes of instruction as well as other modes, such as tutoring, electronic distance education, directing graduate students, advising, etc. For example, projects may include development or acquisition of instructional materials, the introduction of new teaching techniques, instructional research, outreach or assessment. Sample proposals and the list of funded projects for the last three years illustrate the range of possibilities.

We encourage group projects that represent collaboration among faculty members. We also encourage proposals that address one of the themes of the Excellence in Teaching Program.
