Teaching and Learning Technologies - Instructional Design Team

The instructional design team (IDT) offers numerous workshops throughout the year to assist faculty in learning new instructional technologies and in applying those technologies in their teaching. Workshops offered by this team include WebCampus, Webpage Design with Dreamweaver, Photoshop, PowerPoint, e-Portfolio, Wimba Classroom, Wimba Voice Tools, Camtasia, as well as others. IDT also offers presentations on topics related to academic technology tools. Small group and individual consultation support is available upon request. Professional Development and Training

Professional Development and Training provides training and development opportunities in personal and professional growth for all University of Nevada, Reno employees.  In addition PD&T provides a registration resource for administrative and computer training for campus employees.  New Hire Orientation (for all faculty & staff), including Benefits and Sexual Harassment Policy training is offered through PD&T.  Other services provided by PD&T includes customized departmental training, retreat facilitation and organizational development.

Environmental Health & Safety

The Environmental Health & Safety Department offers workshops, seminars, classes and resources that help establish a safe and healthy campus environment. Training sessions include OSHA-, EPA-, and DOT-related topics, such as Laboratory Safety, Fire Extinguisher, Hazard Communication, Radiation Safety and Waste Management that are mandated by regulation.  Other topics offered to promote a safe workplace include Ergonomics and Office, Ladder, Electrical, and Back/Lifting Safety.  We also offer consultation to units in assessing what type and when training is required.  Additional training support is available through an extensive video library and training support materials of equipment and documentation that supervisors can borrow to conduct in-house training sessions. http://www.ehs.unr.edu/website/ProgramAreas/Training/TrainingCalendar/tabid/175/Default.aspx

Extended Studies

Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno offers many one- and two-day professional development courses that can assist faculty and staff with leadership and management, human resources and other job-related educational needs. Courses of interest can be taken individually, or you can earn a certificate in several areas including public management, human resources, supervisory management or nonprofit management. Extended Studies also offers academic credit courses online, during evenings and weekends, and several new online certificates for career enhancement.  Need specific training for your department?
